HP MV2020 NAS Appliance

The HP MV2020 is a good bet for a NAS box. After our flop with the Linksys NAS200, it’s a nice find. In case you have no context for NAS, let me explain. NAS is network area storage. It gives you a simple way to have storage across the network. This is becoming more important to consumers as digital media has exploded.

 

 

There are some really nice things about this NAS device.  It comes with a 500GB SATA drive.  You can only use SATA drives on this.  You can add a second drive of your choosing.  It’s a linux powered box, which always makes me drool.  It offers print serving functionality, 3 USB ports, gigabit ethernet, and very fast tranfers.  Oh, it also comes with a free copy of the Bourne Identity and offers for two more free movies from CinemaNow.  You can see how they are trying to position themselves in this new space.
